| Dr. Gordon Cunningham, D.V.M. |
|
|
| Gordon Cunningham was born and raised on a small
livestock and grain farm in North Central Kansas, just on the eastern edge of the
"short grass country." |
 |
|
| In 1968 he graduated from
Kansas State University as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. |
|
| That same year he moved to Hayward, California,
where he went to work for Dr. Clyde Brown. Dr. Cunningham remembers Dr. Brown as,
“a fantastic veterinarian with some twenty-five years of
experience at the time.” |
|
| Dr. Cunningham moved to Salem in 1971 to buy his own practice
(Salem Veterinary Hospital, located on Portland Road). When he started in Salem he was a
general practitioner, driving out to treat livestock on country farms while maintaining his
small-animal practice in town. By 1974, he had quit the large-animal practice to
focus entirely on small-animals. |
|
| Since that time he’s move his practice twice:
First to a more modern facility on Lancaster at Sunnyview (Lancaster Pet Hospital),
and again in 1996, when he purchased his current practice,
Southside Veterinary Clinic, from the retiring Dr. Dennis DeJong. |
